Australian Pastoral Musicians Network Scholarship 2025: Empowering the Next Generation of Liturgical Musicians
The Australian Pastoral Musicians Network (APMN) has announced its 2025 Scholarship Program, reaffirming its commitment to nurturing the art of religious music in Australia. With a focus on education, support, and advocacy-particularly for Australian compositions-the APMN aims to empower emerging pastoral musicians to enrich both their personal ministry and the wider faith community.
This year, the APMN will award two scholarships, each valued at $1,500. Funded by the generous contributions of APMN members, these scholarships are designed to support young musicians in a variety of ways. Eligible expenses include instrumental or vocal lessons, conducting or choral arrangement courses, liturgical studies, participation in workshops or masterclasses, acquisition of musical resources or equipment, and even composition coaching or studio time to record worship songs.
Recipients will also be invited to attend the APMN Conference and Dinner, with registration fees covered by the Network. For applicants under 18, attendance is possible with a paid accompanying registrant, and travel or accommodation subsidies may be available. This event offers a unique opportunity for networking, learning, and sharing experiences with peers and mentors in the field.
To be eligible, applicants must be aged 14 to 35 and must clearly demonstrate how the scholarship will benefit their development and their faith community. Applications must include a concise CV, a statement of purpose addressing budget, growth, and community impact, two letters of recommendation (preferably one from a Pastor or Parish Priest), and an artist portfolio showcasing musical abilities and ministry involvement.
Applications close at 6pm on Friday, 27th June 2025. Successful candidates will be notified by 11th July and publicly announced at the APMN Conference in Adelaide from October 1-3, 2025. Recipients are required to submit a follow-up report within a year, detailing their achievements and the impact on their community, ensuring the ongoing legacy of pastoral music in Australia.
